QUESTION: My son has many friends and one of the young men he "hangs out" with is gay. I am almost certain that my son has not experimented with homosexuality. Things are changing every day and I am a good Roman Catholic. What are the views of the Roman Catholic Church on homosexuality? Audry

ANSWER: The Roman Catholic Church teaches, indeed all branches of Catholism teach, that any sexual relationship outside the bonds of matrimony is a sin. Matrimony is a Sacrament where a man and a woman cleve to each other (for life) to help and support one another and to bring children into this world. Two men or two women cannot bring children into this world.
The Old Testament indeed strictly points out that this behavoir is an abomination. (LEVITICUS Chapter 18 v/s 22) This does not give an "okay" to gay bashing or homophobia. We are all children of God...let God do the judging.
I have heard the statement that Jesus came to bring us the "New Covenant" and that Jesus never said a word about homosexuality.
Yes, Jesus did give us a "New Covenant" and Jesus never said a word about homosexuality but the Ten Commandments are in the "Old Covenant" do we toss them out?
This is a case where good judgment must be used. You cannot ostracize your son's gay friend. This action would be wrong. I do encourage you to pray for him. We are all children of God and God will be the final judge...NOT MAN!

Comments:
yet, the church is rocked by something far worse...the coddling and condoning of homosexual pediphiles.

no one knows what God "thinks" about homosexuality. if they say that they do, they are liars. don't bother yourself with it. keep your nose down and work and love all people.

I know. What about Sodomn and Gamora man? Why did they get destroyed? Umm... homosexuality?
